Data Entry and Import
Data can be introduced into a XempleX Solution through almost any channel, and can be customised to take advantage of existing systems:
l Mine Planning Software outputs such as the Mine and Equipment Schedules are imported through special import models.
l Opening Balances, Labour and Costs information can be entered through the familiar medium of (controlled and customised) spreadsheets, and imported into the system with a single click.
l Data entry forms can be created to manage any other information, including Activity Codes, Constants and Parameters.
l Web Services can query other systems or information brokers. For example, currency exchange rates can be looked up in real time each time a model is run, or opening balances can be read directly from an ERP system.
All figures used in models can be traced to the individuals responsible for entering and validating those numbers. Import models can also validate, clean and report on the data.
Business Logic
In XempleX Solutions, business logic is kept separate from data management activities and reporting requirements. This:
l greatly simplifies the task of describing business rules
l makes it easier for experts in each functional area to own and manage their own business logic
l protects the business logic from changes in data formats, entry forms or reporting requirements
Scenario modelling is supported by marking sets of costs and parameters with their own ID and running different data sets through exactly the same calculations and reporting processes. For example "Business Plan 1" may include different taxation levels or labour costs to "Business Plan 2".
Reporting
In XempleX Solutions, reporting requirements are kept separate from business logic. Any reporting tool can be supported, such as Excel or Crystal Reports.
Separate models satisfy any additional requirements for data manipulation for your preferred reporting tool. This ensures that any figure in a report can be traced through an unbroken line back to the source data and the individuals responsible for that data.
